Team ICE Tryouts

Tryouts are closed.

Fall tryouts are finished and the rosters are set, so there's nothing to register for today. The next tryout is the one to get in front of — get your player on the list below and you'll hear about it first.

No tryout is scheduled right now, and nothing on this page charges you anything.

When you'll hear back

Every player who tried out gets an answer, either way. If you haven't heard from us yet, you will — nobody gets left wondering.

What ICE means

ICE stands for I Chase Excellence.

Not “I am excellent.” Not “I won a championship.” Chase. It's a verb, and it's ongoing.

It's what a player does on a Tuesday in October when nobody's watching, when the shots aren't falling, when the drill is boring and hard. That's the part we're actually building.

We train more than we play.

A lot of programs run a practice, then play four games on Saturday, then do it again. Kids get tired, they don't get better, and their bad habits get reinforced under pressure. We flip that. Practices are the work. Games are the test.

Every player has a job.

Not every player will average 15 points. But every player will know exactly what their role is, what they need to improve, and what “doing their job well” looks like. Kids don't quit because they aren't stars. They quit because nobody told them how to be useful.

Culture is not a poster on the wall.

We hold players accountable — for effort, for attitude, and for how they treat their teammates and the officials.

What the tryout looks like

It's structured like a practice.

Not a showcase. No standing in line waiting for a turn, no drills run for a stat sheet.

Your player will warm up, work, and play — the same way they would on any practice night. We're watching how they operate in that environment, not how they look performing for an evaluator.

Nothing to prepare for.

What we're evaluating

Skill is the teachable part.

Skill matters, but skill is teachable. The other things are harder, so those are what we're watching:

Effort

Not the loud kind. Whether it's still there on the fourth possession.

Coachability

What happens after a correction. Does it show up in the next rep?

Basketball IQ

Whether a player sees the floor and understands the situation the game is actually in.

How they respond when something goes wrong

A missed shot, a bad call, a teammate's mistake. This is the one nobody practices.

Who we're probably not for

  • Families looking for guaranteed minutes.
  • Families looking for a specific stat line.
  • Families looking for a shortcut to exposure.

We'd rather tell you that now than have your player in the gym for six months feeling like they were sold something different.

Player younger than that, or not ready to be evaluated?

Team ICE Juniors is the developmental program for boys and girls ages 7–11 — 90 minutes every weekend, coaching first and then live 5-on-5, plus two outside competitions. Same coaching staff, no tryout to clear.
